Our History
The drive to create an insurance agency came after a series of challenges where the Georgia Dental Association's endorsed medical providers did not offer adequate group health plans to members. At the end of 1996, GDA President Jim Hall and the GDA Executive Committee began to lay plans to not only bring medical plan administration in-house, but create a full-service insurance agency that would offer other valuable products and services to members. Georgia Dental Insurance Services (GDIS) was established in July 1997 to provide GDA members with strong, stable insurance products. In the process of establishing GDIS, the GDA appointed a GDIS Board of Directors - the first members were Drs. John Ferguson, Jim Moncrief, Brad Greenway, John Freihaut, Bob Vaunt, Bill Bennet, and Michael Pruett.
Throughout the years, GDIS has expanded it services to fit members ever-changing needs. From the early stages of their career through retirement years, Georgia's dental community, their families, and dental staff continue to trust GDIS to help protect personal and professional assets with affordable business, personal and medical insurance plans.
